Technology Today by Skip Sharrer and Tom Tyler

Skip Sharrer:  Skip attained his B.A. in pure mathematics from UCLA in 1978 and followed it up with an M.A. in mathematics from UCLA with an emphasis in numerical analysis in 1981.  He taught math at the college level for 6 years prior to entering the technical field.  He worked with defense research firms in the Washington, DC area for 6 years, writing code to analyze munitions models in such areas as thermal, radar and infrared signature analysis, obscuration effects, and direct fire systems hit probabilities.  He then migrated to the information systems consulting arena, where he has been for the past 30 years.  During that time he has provided design, programming, analysis, workflow, and support services for clients of all sizes.  He founded his own firm, ShareVista, 25 years ago with a focus on applying technology to optimize a client’s business processes.  He has held a Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco Certified Network and Design Associate,, and Citrix Certified Administrator certs in the past.  His current staff services its clients with various managed services, including system design/analysis, remote connectivity, maintenance, security analysis, help desk support, and programming services.  In his spare time he enjoys nearly all sports and fantasizes about joining the Senior Golf tour one day (with an emphasis on fantasizes).

Tom Tyler: Thomas has over a decade of experience in the information technology sector. As Cybersecurity Advisor, he performs information security assessments for numerous nonprofit organizations, provides guidance relating to data privacy and data security regulations and serves as an advisor on internal and external service and software strategies. Previously, Thomas has served as a state administrator and advisor for digital media and software development companies and has performed information security review engagements for financial institutions, medical entities, CPA firms, and other numerous other industries. His work included regulatory reviews covering a variety of guidelines including FFIEC, GLBA, HIPAA, and NACHA.
