Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. Each Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from their own community.
The benefits of Rotary for each Rotarian depend largely on the member’s degree of involvement. Membership requirements are designed to help members fully participate and enjoy their Rotary experience. The benefits of being a Rotarian include community service, networking, friendship and opportunities to promote ethics and leadership skills.
Attending weekly club meetings enables members to enjoy their club’s fellowship, enrich their professional and personal knowledge and meet other business leaders in their community. Attendance at weekly meetings is something Rotarians take very seriously. All Rotary Club members must attend or make up at least 60 percent of their regular club meetings. Members can make up meetings by attending a meeting of another Rotary Club, participating in an on-line meeting, or participating in a club approved service activity.
Since all Rotarians are members of Rotary International, membership guarantees a warm welcome in communities around the globe. There are Rotary Club meetings nearly every business day in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
A qualified candidate for Rotary membership is an adult of strong character and good reputation.
The candidate must fit one of the following criteria:
Holds or has held an executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognized business or profession.
Serves or has served as a community leader.
Is a Rotary Foundation alumnus.
